Thailand Based Crypto Investor Lost 5,500 Bitcoins In A Scam

According to the reports, a 22-year-old cryptocurrency millionaire from Thailand has lost more than 5,500 bitcoins in an investment scam.
Bangkok Post’s report says that a group of people from Thailand requested Finnish businessman Aarni Otava Saarimaa in June 2017 to invest in some Thai stocks, a casino in Macau as well as a new cryptocurrency named Dragon Coin.
The group stated that Dragon Coin could be used at the casino and they brought Saarimaa to the casino in Macau to show the legitimacy of the plan. Saarimaa, transferred a total of 5,564 bitcoins to the group.
Since there was no return on investment, Saarimaa, transferred a total of 5,564 bitcoins to the group.
The CSD consequently began an investigation and declared in the report that the group did not make any investments for Saarimaa but instead changed all the bitcoins into Thai baht, which were deposited into seven bank accounts.
CSD did not reveal when the group sold the bitcoin assets. CSD also revealed that scammers made profits of nearly 800 million baht, or around $24 million.
After the lengthy investigation, the CSD speculated that the Thai film actor Jiratpisit “Boom” Jaravijit was included in the plan and arrested him last Wednesday.
In addition, the CSD claimed that the actor’s sibling Prinya Jaravijit is doubted to be the “ringleader” of the scheme. He had left Thailand for the U.S. via South Korea. The CSD has contacted authorities in the U.S. to find the leader of the scam.
